A Taste of South Africa

Get a small taste of what South Africa has to offer with a few days at a private game reserve, beautiful Knysna, vineyards and the mother city – Cape Town.

On arrival at George airport, you will collect your rental car and drive for approximately one hour to Knysna. Check-in at Head over Hills Luxury Retreat, where the magnificent views from the cliff edge will take your breath away. You will have four days to absolutely spoil yourself with incredible views, hand-picked wines, delicious meals and excellent service from the Head over Hills team. Knysna is the home of adventure, but you don’t have to do bungy jumping in order to make that happen. One of the most scenic hikes we have done ourselves is at the Robberg Nature Reserve, and there are plenty more hikes in the forests around Knysna. You can cycle in the vineyards and taste some good wine in the Crags, do a gourmet walk and learn about the history in Knysna or just have a relaxing massage on your private balcony.

After three nights in Knysna it’s time to experience the wild. The size of Gondwana Game Reserve is about 10.000 hectares and it is not even two hours’ drive from Knysna! Its location is just past Mossel Bay on the way to Cape Town. The reserve offers spectacular views over the savanna with not only the big five, but giraffes, hippos and hundreds of different antelope and zebra. The Main Camp is the base for all the activities and meals and twice daily safaris in an open vehicle, which are also included. All meals are included too, but drinks are not. You will be allocated a private ranger during your stay. He or she will be your guide and inform you not only about the different game, but also about the flora and fauna in the area.

Your last stop on your trip will be Azamare Guesthouse just passed Camps Bay, Cape Town. You will have plenty of time to explore Cape Point, Cape of Good Hope, Boulders Beach (to meet the penguins), Table Mountain, Kirstenbosh Gardens (take a walk on the Boomslang walkway) and of course Robben Island. You will dine in restaurants which are known for their cuisine, chefs, views or location and this is all for an excellent price. Don’t forget to do a day trip to the picturesque town of Franshhoek. It is one of the smaller towns in the Western Cape, but, in our opinion, it is just too beautiful to be missed. You can spend hours and hours in the vineyards in the area and we will of course share some of our best kept secrets to make your journey unforgettable.
